Economic Impact Payments will come to SSI recipients automatically

Advocates have succeeded. The Social Security Administration and the Treasury De-

partment have have found a way to deliver the economic impact payments authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act directly to people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and do not have qualifying children. SSI recipients who do have qualifying children and who would like to claim the $500/child payment for those children are still required to use the "non-filers" portal on the IRS website.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what you need to do to receive your economic impact payment or any other aspect of Special Needs Planning. (Photo courtesy of Markus Winkler via Unsplash).
